BRIAN NELSON, CNN ANCHOR: Police are scouring the woods of Washington once again today. Their frustrating search for the missing intern Chandra Levy so far has yielded zip.
CNN's national correspondent Bob Franken is with us once again.
Bob, anything today?
BOB FRANKEN, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: It's 12 weeks, and what is possible today or the next day -- possible -- is another interview with Congressman Gary Condit. Of course, he's become one of the central figures in this story because of the relationship that he's now acknowledged that he had with Chandra Levy, the 24-year-old missing intern. Police and attorneys are discussing this fourth interview. Police say they have more questions to ask, questions such as, What about the time line that he's given them? There are some gaps in it, they believe. They want to make sure that his time is fully accounted for on May 1, which is the last day that Chandra Levy's been accounted for.
Another question has to do with, according to police sources, his disposing of a watch case four hours before his apartment was searched, on July 10. They want to know why he did it. The watch case was traced back to a gift of a former staffer of his, and sources say she too has acknowledged that she had a personal relationship with Congressman Condit.
NELSON: What about the park search, Bob? Is that continuing today?
FRANKEN: It is continuing. They are on a break right now. It's quite warm in Washington. They are on a break. They're going to continue until 2:00 or 3:00 Eastern this afternoon. This is something that, as we know, is going to take a couple of weeks. The recruits from the police academy had been fanning out in parks around the city of Washington, looking for what they hope they don't find, and quite frankly, that's the body of Chandra Levy.
Of course, police have not determined yet whether she met foul play or if she's in hiding somewhere -- or the possibility, although dim, that she might have committed suicide.
The people who are coordinating the missing persons campaign to try to help to find Chandra Levy have released some new video. You see her here in 1999, in the apartment in Los Angeles. She was going to UCLA. And she was talking with her parents. We're going to go hear her voice for the first time -- talking with her parents about the activities on campus.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
CHANDRA LEVY: Honest to God, I don't know where they have their meetings. I'm not on campus that often, you know. And I just don't really have the time to talk. I do stuff with my graduate student committee.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
FRANKEN: By the way, it was USC. The alumni out there will have to forgive me for that.
In any case, Chandra Levy has been missing, Brian, for 12 weeks.
NELSON: Thanks for the update, CNN's national correspondent Bob Franken, in Washington. We'll be back to you later.
