STEPHEN FRAZIER, CNN ANCHOR: Now to Washington, where CNN's Bob Franken is standing by with new information on the search for clues in the disappearance of intern Chandra Levy.

New information, Bob?

BOB FRANKEN, CNN NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT: Well, the new information, Stephen, is that negotiations continue between the Gary Condit forces and law enforcement officials about exactly how the interview that pretty much is expected to occur now between Condit and law enforcement investigators will be conducted, what will be the parameters.

We have been told that the FBI was fine with not including D.C. police investigators in the interview, but we are, they hasten to point out that the FBI investigators can, in fact, ask the same questions that the D.C. investigators can, number one, and number two, share all of the information.

Part of this interview, of course, as we've reported, will be with the FBI profiler who, by the way, is part of the unit that is joining D.C. police in the investigation into the disappearance of Chandra Levy. All very important points still being fine tuned before the actual interview takes place. One of the things that they want to do, of course, is to create a psychological profile of Chandra Levy in the hope that it leads to some indication of the fact that maybe her state of mind contributed to her disappearance that's now 86 days old.

On Capitol Hill, Congressman Condit has a heap of trouble because one of his close allies, Congressman Charles Stenholm, who's one of the co-founders of the coalition, the blue dog coalition, this is the conservative group, has put out a statement in response to a local newspaper request in Abilene, Texas saying that, "Through his actions and behaviors Congressman Condit brought controversy and discredit to his family, his district and the Congress." And the reason for my emphasis on the word discredit is because of the House rule, "A member, officer or employee of the House of Representatives shall reflect creditably in the House of Representatives."

Congressman Stenholm knows that. This is a very strong statement. What makes it something of great interest to the people on Capitol Hill is that Stenholm is this close associate of Congressman Condit. The two sit together on the Agriculture Committee. They consult with each other quite a bit and although Congressman Stenholm tried to do this in a low key way, he surely had in the minds of just about everybody on Capitol Hill, surely had a very strong idea, Steve, that this would have quite an impact, and it has.

FRAZIER: From Washington, Bob Franken with some new information. Bob, thank you very much.
