MICHAEL OKWU, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Johnny Knoxville doesn't want to be MTV's "Jackass" anymore. The star of MTV's stunt-oriented show, whose real name is Philip Clapp, told his hometown paper, "The Knoxville News-Sentinel," that he's calling it quits to focus on his film career. MTV, on the other hand, told CNN's "Showbiz Today Reports" that they are still in discussions about new episodes of "Jackass."
"Jackass" has earned MTV big ratings. The show was MTV's highest-rated show last week and tied for the eighth-highest rated on all of basic cable.
Stars were riding high last night at the premiere of "American Outlaws." Colin Farrell and Scott Caan were on hand to show off their new Western -- also on hand: co-stars Timothy Dalton and Kathy Bates. Farrell, who stars as Jesse James in the modern retelling of the Old West saga, said his experience was all good despite that tough Texas heat.

COLIN FARRELL, ACTOR: It was a blast, because we were in 120 degrees in Texas for three months. And it was just a blast we had. We were just riding and playing with guns and trying to sing it like you mean it with the words. But we were having a blast -- boys with toys.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
OKWU: Seann William Scott is also riding high with the success of "American Pie 2." Audiences went back for seconds this weekend, eating over $45 million worth of box-office pie. But his days of playing the dumb jock in these teen-sex comedies may be over.
CNN's Lori Blackman has more on this "Showbiz Today" "Star of Tomorrow."
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, "AMERICAN PIE 2")
SEANN WILLIAM SCOTT, ACTOR: Oh, my god.
It's Stifler time, baby!
(END VIDEO CLIP)
LORI BLACKMAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: What you are looking at right now is the ultimate American pie, apple pie, and of course some frozen hot chocolate here at Serendipity.
And sitting beside me is the star of "American Pie" -- one of them -- Stifler, otherwise known as Seann William Scott.
So Stifler hasn't changed a whole lot from the first one, huh?
SCOTT: No, I think he's more of an ass this time around, which I thought was kind of important, because I think the only thing that was appealing to do that character again is if he was crazier than the first one.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, "AMERICAN PIE 2")
SCOTT: She didn't sleep with one guy. She slept with at least three.
THOMAS IAN NICHOLAS, ACTOR: What?
SCOTT: When a girl tells you of how many guys she slept with, multiply it by three and that's the real number.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BLACKMAN: "American Pie," the first one came out two years ago, summer of 1999. It was your first big film. Since that time, you have done "Road Trip," "Dude, Where's My Car?" "Evolution," "Final Destination." And now we were just talking about your dramatic debut, which hasn't come out yet, in "Stark Raving Mad."
SCOTT: Ironically enough, doing those movies allowed me to do "Stark Raving Mad," which was the whole reason why I moved out to L.A. So it's funny how things turn out.
BLACKMAN: I've got to take a sip of this. I can't let it sit here. It's so hot out.
SCOTT: It's pretty amazing.
BLACKMAN: All right, let me ask you...
SCOTT: Does that sound like we made out, kind of?
(LAUGHTER)
SCOTT: Because my lips were on the straw and your lips...
BLACKMAN: We just a little bit made out there in front of the camera.
SCOTT: That's pretty cool.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, "AMERICAN PIE 2") SCOTT: Jim, can't you leave your shirt on? You're scaring the chicks away.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BLACKMAN: When they came to you and said, "We're going to do an 'American Pie 2,'" what was you're initial reaction to that?
SCOTT: I really didn't want to do it at all. And I got the script for the sequel and I thought it was actually funnier than the first one.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP, "AMERICAN PIE 2")
UNIDENTIFIED ACTRESS: You are just trying to get me drunk.
SCOTT: Mary, would I do that?
UNIDENTIFIED ACTRESS: My name is Christy.
SCOTT: Christy, right, right. Beautiful name -- like it matters.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BLACKMAN: Are we going to see an "American Pie 3," you think?
SCOTT: I'm sure that they're going to maybe push for one. I -- the thing that really surprised me and that they knew all along was that just seeing these guys together again, it's just a great chemistry. It's a lot of fun.
And I think, personally, for myself, I'm going to leave it at the second one. I hope it does well enough for them to want to do a third one, but I think I'm running out of bodily fluids to use.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SCOTT: Oh yes, the Stif-meister's coming back to Grand Harbor.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
BLACKMAN: Lori Blackman, CNN Entertainment News, New York.
(END VIDEOTAPE)
OKWU: And dudes, don't go anywhere.
Coming up later on "Showbiz Today Reports," Naomi Judd stops by to talk about her latest television project and gives us some insight into her relations with her talented daughters. And Huey Lewis is making news once again with a new album.
I'm Michael Okwu in New York.
