LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Let's get right to the "Showbiz News."
DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Let's do that with Laurin Sydney -- Laurin?
HARRIS: Hey, Laurin.
LAURIN SYDNEY, CNN CORRESPONDENT: OK, let's get right to it today, because the host of a controversial MTV program has told the newspaper he wants off the show. The show is "Jackass." It's a popular stunt show that has drawn criticism from Senator Joe Lieberman after several copycat incidents, one of which left a boy with severe burns.
Host Johnny Knoxville has told hometown paper, "The Knoxville News-Sentinel" he's quitting to do movies. He'll be in "Men in Black 2." MTV told "Showbiz Today Reports" that the show is definitely still alive and they are negotiating with Knoxville.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers think the political atmosphere in Israel is too hot for them. They have canceled an August 28th scheduled concert there because of security concerns. The band is heeding a State Department recommendation that U.S. citizens not travel to the embattled nation.
She's a lot big country and a little bit rock 'n' roll, and beginning August 20th every day between 2:00 and 4:30 p.m. Eastern time, Grammy winner Naomi Judd will be dispensing advice on "WE: Women's Entertainment." And joining us now to give us W-O-W, which, in Naomi talk, means Words of Wisdom, is the one and only Naomi Judd.
NAOMI JUDD, SINGER: And what does wow upside-down spell?
SYDNEY: Mom.
JUDD: Funny how that works.
(LAUGHTER)
SYDNEY: Of course it does. And I learned from watching the clips, one of your words of wisdom is that we should all have just terrific posture when we're talking?
JUDD: Amen. SYDNEY: So I learned something.
JUDD: When I'm with Wy and Ashley, if they don't have good posture, I say "erutsop," which is posture backwards. Because we live in a goldfish bowl, so we have developed our own Judd speak.
SYDNEY: I noticed.
(LAUGHTER)
JUDD: We have our own -- we have code language. Restaurants, grocery stores, people are always eavesdropping. It's called "Between Us."
SYDNEY: Right. And what's so interesting about it?
JUDD: It's like sitting at the kitchen table.
SYDNEY: Is that WE decided to devote afternoons, Monday through Friday, to relationships. So they're taking this block and you are going to be interstitially woven in between. Do you want to do this...
JUDD: That's a big word.
(LAUGHTER)
SYDNEY: Let's do this one upside-down.
JUDD: Interstitially.
SYDNEY: Yes.
JUDD: That's a good word because it is all about relationships and how everything is interconnected and interwoven. And basically, we learn the most about ourselves through our most difficult relationships.
SYDNEY: Which was your most difficult?
(LAUGHTER)
JUDD: Starts with a W, she sings, she's got red hair. The other one...
SYDNEY: But she's so darn talented.
JUDD: The other one is an actress and starts with an A. But it's not only about relationships. It's, you know, I've about been out there on life's highways for 17 years, and I so cherish the privilege of getting to be in people's homes. And I mean, literally, as I'm in a different city every night I go visit people and they'd invite me into their kitchen, I'd have tuna casserole with them, sit on the front porch, and I feel so blessed to be that connected to them. So this is about giving them some psychological tools for their psychological tool box, through the stories that come from my own direct experience.
SYDNEY: Absolutely, And that tuna casserole had to have had nonfat mayo in it, because you look absolutely divine.
Now, since we're talking about advice, what was the best advice that you ever gave to that one who gives you so much trouble and to Ashley?
(LAUGHTER)
JUDD: Hmm. Everything that happens to us in life is for a greater good, that we get to learn stuff and we get to go to a higher level, where it's intensely connected and committed to communicating. We're -- we're enlightened in perfection, if you will. We know that we're never going to have it all together, that's like saying you can eat or sleep once and for all. It's a process.
SYDNEY: Definitely.
JUDD: Life is a stinking process. And I think they get that now. They understand that it's really about mindfulness, living in the moment and realizing this is it.
SYDNEY: And beginning August 20th, you're going to communicate with everybody out there.
(LAUGHTER)
JUDD: "Between Us."
SYDNEY: That's right. "Between Us." I wish I could give advice to my producers that we should have more time, but we can't. So I'm going to close and say thank you so much for joining us. And you look good. You feel good?
JUDD: I feel fabulous, thank you.
SYDNEY: Most important part of all.
JUDD: Life is good!
SYDNEY: OK. Knock on wood. We'll be back right after this.
(COMMERCIAL BREAK)
SYDNEY: As we've been reporting this morning, the NAACP will be releasing its study on minority casting later this afternoon. CNN has learned that the organization will not be calling for a boycott of a specific network, as had been rumored, but they will have recommendations for improvements. CNN will carry the NAACP news conference live at 1:00 p.m. Eastern time.
And now it's time for us to go back live to Daryn and Leon.
KAGAN: Laurin, thank you very much. TO ORDER A VIDEO OF THIS TRANSCRIPT, PLEASE CALL 800-CNN-NEWS OR USE OUR SECURE ONLINE ORDER FORM LOCATED AT www.fdch.com
