THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: All right, let's get the latest now on that Steve Fossett story. We know that he aborted his attempt to float around the world in a balloon.
Let's go now to our Jeff Flock who is standing by in mission control. Jeff.
JEFF FLOCK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Leon, they are feeling a whole lot better here in mission control right now because they had just gotten off the phone with Steve Fossett, these folks back here, behind us. He was able to call in, they made their first contact. They say that he sounds alert, he may be a little sleepy but other than that sounding really good.
He is going to call back in about a little less than 30 minutes now, and they're going to attempt to put him on a conference bridge and we'll be able to ask questions of him and get some sense about where his head is now as it were, as well as where his balloon is right now. He's willing to talk and share his thoughts about this 13- day flight that we have been watching so closely.
So in about 30 minutes' time we'll be back and have the latest from the horse's mouth. So, stay tuned.
HARRIS: All right, good deal. Thanks, Jeff.
