LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: In the entertainment world, comedienne Paula Poundstone is due to show up in a California courtroom this hour. She is facing child molestation and endangerment charges there.
Our Sherri Sylvester is outside the courthouse in Santa Monica. She joins us now with a closer look -- Sherri.
SHERRI SYLVESTER, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Leon, we do know that Paula Poundstone's attorney, Steven Cron, has said that he will not ask for another continuance in the case.
And so we do expect this morning that Judge Bernard Kamins will set a date for a preliminary hearing so that this case can go forward. Again, you know, Paula Poundstone is charged with four felony counts. Her last appearance here was just about a month ago. She was greeted then by about 20 supporters.
Many of them greet her here outside the courthouse and then follow her inside so that they can attend the proceedings. We have spoken with one of Paula Poundstone's representatives. And he says that she is doing fine. She is still in that Malibu rehabilitation clinic, Promises, where she is undergoing treatment for alcohol abuse. She has been there since June 11.
He says that this is obviously a very difficult time for her, but she's a strong person; she's doing as well as can be expected; and she's looking forward to getting this case resolved, getting it all behind her, and getting her family back together. He also did say that Poundstone has been seeing her three adopted children. Those, of course, are court-supervised visits. She has not had any contact with her two foster children since the charges have been brought against her.
Paula Poundstone will not be speaking with media this morning, although her attorney, Steven Cron, may address reporters when he arrives. Again, that case is about to begin, probably about 8:30 Pacific time -- back to you in Atlanta.
HARRIS: All right, Sherri, we will let you go so you can get your place there inside that courthouse. We'll check back with you later on.
SYLVESTER: OK. Thank you.
