THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Now we're going to move onto the latest from the frontlines in Afghanistan. U.S. planes continue pounding Kandahar, the Taliban's last stronghold. Nic Robertson is in Chaman, Pakistan near the Afghan border. He has the very latest for us now -- Nic.
NIC ROBERTSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Paula, our sources inside Kandahar say that bombing has been going on all day through the night as well from Wednesday. They say it's been virtually incessant, some of the heaviest bombing they've seen. They tell us that Taliban anti aircraft guns in the city have been firing back at the planes, but with no effect.
They report that the bombs have been falling not only inside Kandahar city, but around the outside of it as well. They also tell us that on Wednesday the Taliban executed a man for having a global positioning device. They hanged him, apparently, in the Main Square in Kandahar city. He apparently is still hanging there today. The Taliban believe he may have been taking satellite location measurements for the U.S. forces who are located just outside Kandahar. They say that he is hanging there as an example for others in the city -- Paula.
ZAHN: Nic Robertson, thanks for that update, appreciate it.
