BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Welcome back to Kandahar. We're celebrating Christmas here with the U.S. Marines who have taken Kandahar airport as of about eight days ago. With us here is a front loader brought in by the U.S. Navy. Any time the Marines go on an in- land expeditionary route or even when they're amphibious, more close to the sea, they always bring aspects of the Navy.

With us a couple SeaBees, construction batallion. Name and home town sir.

DENNIS HILL, U.S. MARINE CORPS: Dennis Hill, Clinton, Tennessee. I'd like to wish all my friends and family a Merry Christmas. And I love y'all.

HEMMER: Are they watching now, do you think.

HILL: Let's hope so.

HEMMER: Okay, good deal. Merry Christmas to you. The SeaBees are here. They've got their sign on the front of this front loader here. Further down the line, who do we have?

JEFF LOCKUS (ph), U.S. MARINE CORPS: Jeff Lockus, Ramsey, Illinois.

HEMMER: What's your message to the folks at home?

LOCKUS: I love you Mom and Dad and hello to my friends.

HEMMER: Merry Christmas to you too. Further down the line here. He's a little shy, but he's coming out of his shell today. Merry Christmas. Go ahead, your name?

DERREK KENNING, U.S. MARINE CORPS: Derrek Kenning. I would like to wish my friends and family back home, Merry Christmas and I love you.

HEMMER: That's wonderful. Good deal, thank you, sir. Finally up here, the operator. What do you have?

JONATHAN BURLESON, U.S. MARINE CORPS: Jonathan Burleson, Meridian, Mississippi. I would like it wish my family and friends a Merry Christmas. Miss you and I love you. HEMMER: Good deal, Merry Christmas to all you guys. Thanks for hanging out. Okay. Good deal, men. Thank you very much. Our coverage continues momentarily in Kandahar.
