CNN ANNOUNCER: Ken Niemi from San Francisco, California asks: Are there any tips on packing carry-on bags to make it quicker for security to scan them for safety?

JEFF BEATTY, PRESIDENT, TOTALSECURITYSERVICES.COM: Well Ken, yes, there are. Unfortunately, unless everybody follows these tips, you're still going to find yourself in a long line, but the way to go is to not pack anything metallic in your bags. Carry fewer carry-on bags. Try to put as much as you can into your checked luggage. Ken, you might also be interested to know that even some of the checked bags go through screening. You may not be aware of it, but certain checked bags will be put through x-ray machines and they will be looked at. All of these things are done so that terrorists would not have a feeling of a high degree of certainly of being able to press home their attack by putting a threat weapon into a piece of checked baggage.
