LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: We are following developments from the front lines of America's new war in Afghanistan. Some U.S. Marines are back from a special mission.

CNN's Bill Hemmer is standing by. He is at the Kandahar Airport -- good morning once again, Bill.

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Hey, Leon -- hello again to you.

The Marines are back. Their biggest mission to date thus far by land here in southern Afghanistan, they term it successful, but they continue to look for the intelligence they gathered there. And that's not released right now. It may be sometime before they sift and sort through everything they have gathered.

Also here in Kandahar, Leon, the number now of detainees, the prisoners here, are at 200 even. They say that complex can hold 250, unless it is expanded more, but right now the number is 200. And some rather interesting details coming out right now about some of the detainees here. We'll fill you in on what's happening there in a moment here, when we come back live in Afghanistan -- Leon, back to you.

HARRIS: All right, we will check back with you then, Bill -- thank you very much.
