PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Coming up in this hour, my interview with the first lady. She is the first person from the White House to speak directly to the Afghan people since her husband launched the war on terror last fall.

We will go to Afghanistan to get reaction to the first lady's radio address, and that's exactly where we find Anderson Cooper this morning -- good morning, Anderson.

ANDERSON COOPER, CNN ANCHOR: Good morning, Paula. The big news this morning here out of Afghanistan is a raid last night under the cover of darkness by U.S. Special Forces troops. As many as 100 U.S. Special Forces soldiers raided a compound in eastern Afghanistan, hunting for the killer or killers of Special Forces Sergeant Gene Arden Vance, Jr., who was ambushed and killed while on a reconnaissance patrol Sunday afternoon.

The U.S. military says no shots were fired in last night's raid, no enemy forces were encountered, they say. But they did say that they received some -- quote -- "items of intelligence value."

I'll have a full report on that coming up in the next hour -- Paula.

ZAHN: Thanks so much, Anderson -- see you in a little bit.
