BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: It is one of the world's largest technology shows right now under way here in New York City, not far from where we are, as a matter of fact. The big word at Tech X NY this year is T-I-N-Y, "tiny." M.K. Flynn is here to show us good things that come in very small packages.

Two days in a row here. Now you have some cameras, I understand.

MARY KATHLEEN FLYNN, CNN TECHNOLOGY CORRESPONDENT: And they are indeed tiny.

HEMMER: That could go into a shirt pocket.

FLYNN: Absolutely. They are about the size of a credit card, although they weigh a little bit more, and the trend is also not only are they smaller, but they do more different kinds of things.

So this is the Casio XLM, and it's About $300. And it can -- you see it there. It's tiny. You can see how little it is and it is very light as well. It's very light.

HEMMER: Let me see that a second.

FLYNN: Sure. You want to put that in your pocket?

HEMMER: Exactly. That's exactly what I was thinking.

If you go into a pocket, it literally disappears, and that's not even taking the path of the pocket on my suit coat here. That is amazing technology. What about the product?

FLYNN: Well, let me see if I can take a picture of you here with it. OK, so...

HEMMER: I hate that, right, Daryn?

FLYNN: Having your picture taken? All right. Well, it's not -- you know what, we got to power it on first.

Can you see that? Yes, there we go. There's Bill in the picture. And we can take, and then we can play it back. It's going to take just a moment, and there you are.

Well, it's a little overdeveloped there. You're a little light. (CROSSTALK)

FLYNN: But you see how that works, and it's also has 30 seconds of video as well, $300.

HEMMER: OK, another item.

FLYNN: OK, next one, another little one. This is from Logitech. It doesn't as quite a sharp picture, it's not as high resolution, but it's a lot cheaper; it's $130, and people are using it for Web sites. And it's sort of more casual. You can see it's more flexible and light. A little over one ounce.

HEMMER: Let's put something for our viewers on the screen here just to give a bit of a comparison between the two.

FLYNN: A price comparison, yes.

HEMMER: What would you say on both of these?

FLYNN: Well, if you really want more higher resolution, higher quality pictures, I would go with the Casio. The Logitech, on the other hand, I think of it of as kind of almost like a disposable camera. I mean, it's so light, and it's so easy and fun. So the two little mini cameras.

HEMMER: OK. Next item is what?

FLYNN: Next we have a camcorder, and this is from Sony. OK, let's see how we do this. You can see again, the picture in the screens. Are we getting that?

HEMMER: Yes, sure are. Just tilt it just a little more.

FLYNN: OK, there we go. There is Bill. So again, you can see how easy it is to take a video. And now we're recording you, on video. This also takes stills, and this is Sony's smallest, lightest camcorder out there.

HEMMER: Just for Sony, though. Are there any others that supersede this?

FLYNN: There are others, but this is definitely one of the best, smallest, lightest ones.

HEMMER: Price is what?

FLYNN: This is $1,300. So it's getting up there.

HEMMER: But if you're going to make the investment, really that is just absolute state of the art.

One thing, as we look at the $1,300 cost, it weighs about a pound, you say, and you actually can use the screen.

FLYNN: There are touch-screen controls, if we can show that. You literally touch the screen to do stuff like you know how sometimes you're trying to focusing on something that's not necessarily in the middle of the picture. Let's say I was trying to focus on something in the background there. I can literally just touch on the screen and change where the focus is.

HEMMER: Absolutely User friendly, too.

FLYNN: Pretty convenient there.

HEMMER: OK. quickly, running out of time. The Blackberry we know of. but this apparently is an upgrade to a big degree.

FLYNN: Well, now it's got a built-in cell phone, and there is one...

HEMMER: No.

FLYNN: As we said, these gadgets are doing more and more different things, and now we've got the popular pager, and it's also got a built-in cell phone. There's one on the market right now that you can use as a cell phone, but you have to use a special headset. With this one coming out this fall, you just use it, you know, you hold it up to your ear.

HEMMER: Price is what?

FLYNN: They haven't said it yet. This product is so new -- never before seen on television. It's so new that they haven't set a price. They haven't set a model name.

HEMMER: That is really amazing. You know, I talked to some people who have to carry these. I don't fortunately, yet.

FLYNN: You don't have to carry a pager.

HEMMER: No, a blackberry, a blackberry. They can reach me on cell phone all the time. A lot of people say that this is one thing that enables them to stay connected at work. At the same time, it's something that makes it inescapable. There is a good and bad to some of the technology we're seeing come out right now.

FLYNN: That it's too ubiquitous, too easy to reach you?

HEMMER: You can do that.

Listen, I just got text messaging on my phone. I'm still trying to figure it out, but I'm coming along.

This you may find this later, I don't know.

FLYNN: M.K., thanks for stopping by. Really good toys. I mean, it's just amazing how much smaller they get.

HEMMER: Good to see you.

FLYNN: Nice to see you, too. TO ORDER A VIDEO OF THIS TRANSCRIPT, PLEASE CALL 800-CNN-NEWS OR USE OUR SECURE ONLINE ORDER FORM LOCATED AT www.fdch.com
