PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Expectations are really high for Lee Ann Womack's upcoming album, "Something Worth Leaving Behind." That's what happens when your last one goes double platinum and rockets you to country music stardom. And Lee Ann will be part of a star-studded musical tribute to the red, white, and blue tonight in the nation's capital.
And she joins us this morning from Washington.
Welcome, Lee Ann. Glad to have you with us this morning.
LEE ANN WOMACK, PERFORMER: Thank you. Glad to be here.
ZAHN: What does this Fourth of July mean to you?
WOMACK: I think it means so much to all of us. Every July Fourth does, but this year, it's especially important for us to celebrate all the freedoms that we've enjoyed for so long.
And so we're expecting a really high turnout, even though it's so hot. I think it's really important this year for us all to come together and celebrate.
ZAHN: It's tell you one thing, the weather's not going to keep those crowds away.
Let's talk a little bit about what you are going to sing for us this morning, "I Hope You Dance," which is obviously one of your biggest hits. Why did you pick that song to perform today?
WOMACK: Well, actually, I'm not doing "I Hope You Dance" today.
ZAHN: That's what we were told.
WOMACK: We're doing...
ZAHN: What will you be doing, then, and why did you pick it?
WOMACK: Well, it's "Something Worth Leaving Behind," which is the first single from the new record. The record -- the single is "Something Worth Leaving Behind," and the album is also the same. It's a song about doing something in your life that's worth leaving behind. And as an artist, we all want to do that. But the song kind of says not everyone will paint a masterpiece or write a symphony, but you can love, and that's something that's worth leaving behind.
ZAHN: Well, we're going to give you a chance to share that with us now. And I guess someone was so fixated on your last big hit they're counting on this one to go double platinum as well.
So let's listen to that now.
And good luck to you later today.
WOMACK: Thank you.
Yes.
(sings "Something Worth Leaving Behind")
ZAHN: Bravo, Lee Ann Womack. Thank you for giving us a preview of what most of Washington will be exposed to later today, "Something Worth Leaving Behind." And have a great Fourth.
WOMACK: Thank you. You too.
ZAHN: Thanks for your time. And good luck with the new album.
WOMACK: Thank you.
