Web Site Aims to Save Martha Stewart

JACK CAFFERTY, CNN ANCHOR: Fans of Martha Stewart take heart, all seven of you. The products from that Web site that we told you about dedicated to saving the domestic diva from accusations of insider trading are out there, all the way from Wall Street to main street.

CNN's Jeanne moos followed the Web site's creator on his way find Martha supporters in New York.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JEANNE MOOS, CNN CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): How could a woman so savvy end up needing to be saved?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Save Martha. Do you guys want to help save Martha Stewart? You got to help save Martha. Please.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Good morning, sir. Save Martha Stewart.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Does anyone want to help save Martha?

MOOS: If your answer is yes, head to the savemartha.com Web site, where you can load up on save Martha T-shirts, cooler bags, aprons and even boxer shorts.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: This is the save Martha chef's hat.

MOOS: Instead of doing the grilling, Martha's been getting grilled.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MARTHA STEWART: I want to focus on my salad.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: One more question about...

(END VIDEO CLIP)

MOOS: With the press in hot pursuit, a New York marketing consultant has come to Martha's rescue.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We're here to save Martha Stewart today. Are you a Martha Stewart fan?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You're kidding me, right?

MOOS (on camera): What are we saving Martha from?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We're saving Martha from the double standard.

MOOS (voice-over): John Small says women in business are held to a different standard than men. And when we argue that point...

(on camera): It is irresistible. It's not because she's a woman, it is because she's Martha Stewart that is the press is going after her, don't you think?

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Another great issue. There is a double standard for celebrities in our society.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think she's getting a raw deal.

MOOS: You don't think she did this, you know, a couple little insider tips?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Maybe she got a little on the side, but what the hell?

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: She's not the only one doing it. If I was in her shoes, I would have done it too.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I can't do it, so she shouldn't be able to do it.

MOOS (voice-over): Personal behavior aside...

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Have you ever tried her satin (ph) sheets?

MOOS: John says he's been a fan of Martha's for years, like so many others.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Save Martha. Come on, save Martha.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I do watch it, but I shouldn't be. I shouldn't be doing something with my life instead of watching her make ornate flower arrangements that serve no purpose.

MOOS: John, whose mom's name is Martha, is sick of hearing Martha jokes and cites them on his Web site.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Jokes about decorating jail cells aren't that funny. I'm sorry.

MOOS: Robin Williams isn't.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ROBIN WILLIAMS, ENTERTAINER: You know, you have vertical bars, don't use horizontal blinds.

DAVID LETTERMAN: Get up this morning and I'm watching the Martha Stewart show, and she's showing you how to properly thaw Ted Williams.

MOOS: Folks on street weren't all sweet on Martha.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Go ahead, man, let her hang.

MOOS: This guy suggested Martha might improve prison food.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I think Martha should cut the prices on her products a little bit.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So maybe have a save Martha sale.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: There you go.

MOOS: John's biggest rally so far consisted of four people. Why save your breath when you're out to save Martha.

UNIDENTIFIED PEOPLE: Save Martha now! Save Martha now! Save Martha now! Save Martha now!
