PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Welcome to New York City. You know what they say? It's going to be better in the new place, and that's exactly what's happening here this morning.
Joining us this morning, Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York City to help us officially unveil our brand new studios here.
MAYOR MICHAEL BLOOMBERG, NEW YORK: I have the scissors to do it with.
ZAHN: Have at it.
BLOOMBERG: It's a great day. Welcome to New York, and CNN has always had a big presence here, but I think this is great to have a new studio. It says you guys have confidence in New York, and the confidence is well-justified.
ZAHN: I'll let you take the honors here.
BLOOMBERG: Are you ready?
ZAHN: I am ready.
BLOOMBERG: Well, on three, you can count down.
ZAHN: Three, two, one. And it's official! We're in our brand new studios. We appreciate your stopping by.
BLOOMBERG: Oh, thank you.
ZAHN: A quick question for you. You have talked so much over the last couple of months about the importance of renewed interest and investment here in New York. Where are we in the rebuilding cycle post-September 11?
BLOOMBERG: Well, in terms of housing, real estate prices have never been higher. Battery Park City, which right after 9/11 a lot of people said nobody would want to live down there, is now virtually all full, and three new apartment buildings have already been started down there.
People want to come to New York, and the reason they want to come to New York is it's the safest large city in the world, and it's the city that has the advantages that people want -- cultural institutions, athletic events taking place.
This is the Big Apple, and if you want to be with the best, this is where you come. This is where you want to raise your kids, this is where you want to come to get an education, this is where you want to come for medical care, this is where you want to come for media.
ZAHN: And we are thrilled to have our new home here.
Now, just a real candid answer here. In your life, you ran radio and television studios. Is this the best darn looking studio you have ever seen...
(CROSSTALK)
BLOOMBERG: This is not only the best darn studio I've ever seen, but one of the nicest anchors that ever was works here...
ZAHN: Oh, I appreciate that.
BLOOMBERG: ... Paula Zahn.
ZAHN: And with that, we bid you adieu.
BLOOMBERG: Congratulations.
ZAHN: Have a great day. Thank you very much for joining us on this very exciting day.
BLOOMBERG: Thank you.
