BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: The storm surge threatening the Gulf Coast right now, hurricane Lili moving towards shore some time to make landfall, perhaps in the next 60 minutes to 90 minutes. Throughout the morning we will have live reports up and down the Gulf Coast.
About 850,000 people either ordered or strongly urged to get out of the are.

Jeff Flock is not one of them. He goes in when other folks get out -- Jeff, good morning.

JEFF FLOCK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, good morning to you, Bill.

It sure is a positive thing that this is not a category four storm looking at us as we stand here. We're starting to get a really, a good rain band coming. I don't know if, we've been using a spotlight here to try to illuminate the rainfall, because it's coming down pretty good. We just had a pretty good squall that came back this way, as well.

I can tell you, power is out to this part of Morgan City, Louisiana. Lost it about three hours or four hours or so ago. Also, they have now, as we reported earlier, opened an emergency shelter. They didn't want to open any shelters because they didn't want to encourage anybody to stay here because the problem is when you get these winds coming up -- we tried to show you this construction site here that we're sort of holed up next to -- you know, when you get these boards sort of getting launched airborne once you get these 100 mile an hour winds coming along, they don't want people in the path of that.

And, of course, we'll be very careful once that starts to happen.

But maybe you can see off into the trees there, Bill. I don't know if you can. Tom, maybe to see, that one right there. I don't know if you can see that one right there. We're starting to really get the wind associated with this, as well, right now. So we want to really watch this very carefully throughout the morning as this eye comes on us here, not too far from us here in Morgan City, Louisiana.

That's the latest, Bill.

Back to you.

HEMMER: Thank you, Jeff.

And momentarily folks like Jeff will start to feel those winds change in their direction and certainly we'll be back in touch there.
