BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Patty Davis watching the investigation, live this morning here in Rockville with me.
Good morning -- Patty.
PATTY DAVIS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning.
HEMMER: It was somewhat like a witness 101 course yesterday from the police, trying to educate the public.
DAVIS: That's right. Police making a plea to the public, keep your eyes open if you happen to see the sniper strike again. They've been very frustrated at not being able to develop a composite, because witnesses don't agree, as you said.
What they're saying is, if you hear something, get down, of course, seek cover right away. But put to memory what you're seeing. Look in the direction of the shot, remember, look at the make, the model of the car, look at the complexion of the person, the build -- things that are not going to change. And write it down if you can, and then let police know what you have.
HEMMER: Did they indicate why there has been such difficulty on that front?
DAVIS: The witnesses just do not agree. They had an adrenaline rush, they were saying, especially for the Home Depot, the shooting on Monday, they had their best witnesses yet. They're saying it was darkness, it was distance, even though that gunman was the closest yet -- just 30 yards from that victim.
But adrenaline rush, they're saying, people just get caught up in it, and they forget or they embellish what they know.
HEMMER: Thank you, Patty. Track it throughout the morning -- Patty Davis watching the story along with me here in Rockville, Maryland.
