DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We are an hour and a half away from the next news briefing to take place at police headquarters in Montgomery County, and you'll of course, see that live right here on CNN. Right now we want to bring in WTOP's Mitchell Miller. WTOP is the news radio station here in the Washington D.C. area. I can bet hundreds of thousands of cars have their dial set to 1500 to get the latest.
Mitchell, good morning to you once again.

MITCHELL MILLER, WTOP RADIO: Good morning.

KAGAN: I want to ask you, yesterday when we had the news briefing here it was one of the first times we didn't see police Chief Charles Moose. He was at a meeting of all the police chiefs in the area. Do you know what came out of that meeting?

MILLER: I think it was very significant that he was not at the briefing, because he was meeting with a lot of the other chiefs and a lot of the other law enforcement officials who have been working on this region-wide pass course, and basically, they were trying to iron out, I think, some of the differences they've had in terms of releasing information.

It does appear that some law enforcement agencies have been a little more open to releasing some information related to the investigation as opposed to some of the others. So hopefully, they were able to get some of those differences resolved, because I think everybody wants to get the accurate information and keep the speculation down to a low roar.

KAGAN: When I was listening to WTOP this morning, I don't know if it was speculation or it was a report, but you were talking about the possibility that the shooter has changed weapons. Where does that come from?

MILLER: There have been reports circulating that there were various weapons in connection with the shooting, and the latest report, part of it was pinned on "A New York Post" article that there was a different weapon used in this one, in the case of an AK-74, which might be a weapon that could be used at a shorter range.

Now a lot of this still needs to be checked out. A lot of officials still wonder whether or not there could be two shooters, for example, one shooter using one gun, the other shooter using another. Of course, the possibility is it's the same shooter using a different gun, so this is one things that's going to be investigated by, I think, law enforcement officials over the next coming days, but certainly there's a lot more to check out related to this.

KAGAN: And then, finally, on a lifestyle issue, so many kids restricted in their activities, whether it's recess or high school football games, what is the status on officials making that call right now?

MILLER: Well, slowly but surely, a lot of the school systems in the area are getting back to normal. I think there was really -- and I don't want to speak too early, but there was a palpable sense of relief this morning, because it was exactly two weeks ago today that four people in Montgomery County were gunned down in just a matter of 2 1/2 hours, so the fact that nothing occurred this morning is just a real sense of relief for a lot of families, a lot of people in the whole Washington area, and slowly but surely, as I said, the school systems are saying to parents, we're going to try to get back to normal so your kids can go outside, do some of the sport activities that you all enjoy so very much.

But right now, they are still kind of in a limbo period, because, frankly, nobody knows what the sniper is going to do next.

KAGAN: Yes. And that's where the fear and anxiety has been coming from. Mitchell Miller with WTOP.
