PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Because your life has been consumed by the Washington story, I want to ask you a question. I guess there are a number of reports hits morning talking about how concerned officials are about the impact the sniper may have on the elections in Maryland. Are they talking about extending polling hours to accommodate the fear and concern of the voters?
JONATHAN KARL, CNN CORRESPONDENT: This is an incredible concern because Maryland's not just any state this year. Maryland's got perhaps the hottest governor's race in the country, certainly one of them. It also has one of the top 15 or 20 House races. So this is a big election and in Maryland and they are talking about extending the hours. I mean I was up there in Montgomery County talking to candidates, local candidates, and they were worried, can you get people to go out to vote when they're worried they might get shot?
I mean it's hard enough to people to the polls anyway, so now you have this added element. So officials are trying to see can they extend polling hours so people don't have to wait long on line to get into vote. I mean this is not the kind of time people want to wait on line to vote.
ZAHN: The ripple effect of this spree is extraordinary.
KARL: Incredible.
ZAHN: Thanks, Jonathan.
See you in a little bit.
KARL: Sure.
