PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Candy, the hottest sellers this Halloween season. Andy Serwer is standing by at Dylan's Candy Bar, New York City, minding your business this morning.
Good morning. Are you having breakfast?
ANDY SERWER, "FORTUNE" MAGAZINE: I'm going to have more breakfast here, Paula. This is really amazing, one of my favorite stores in the world, Dylan's Candy Bar here in Manhattan. And I'm in the Halloween section, just some incredible stuff. Here's a chocolate haunted house. Little stuff here. These are some peeps, you know, like from Easter, only they're bats.
And what else do we have here? Giant candy corn. Whoops, falling over, look at that.
What else do we have here? How about this one? Love this little lollipop with the worm. How about that? Is that scary enough? And this, Paula, is big enough for even Leon. What do you think? I mean, now that is a...
LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: Are you saying I'm having a big mouth, is that what you're saying?
SERWER: ... lollipop.
ZAHN: He could do some damage to that later.
SERWER: Listen, the candy business, about a $23 billion a year business, Paula, but about a third of it, $7 billion, comes from the Halloween holiday. About 80 percent of that seven billion is bought in this week alone. So it's a huge time for the business.
And you know, it's not just candy at Halloween, the business has also turned into toys and novelties, leaf trash bags and all that. I brought these from home, a couple of these guys, some of my favorites. And then there's this guy.
ZAHN: Very nice.
SERWER: We got to get rid of these guys.
ZAHN: We've never seen you dance before. We've seen you sing. Nice job, Andy.
SERWER: This is my favorite dancing partner right here. What else do we have here? Here we go. I love this stuff.
ZAHN: What are we hearing, gurgling?
SERWER: We're going to be checking back in later in the program with Dylan herself, Dylan Lauren, who is the owner and founder of the store, and meanwhile, I got to get back to eating. So I'll see you guys later.
ZAHN: Dylan related to Ralph Lauren right, the daughter of?
SERWER: Yes, the daughter of. That's right. We'll be talking to her soon.
ZAHN: Andy, your next live shot has all kinds of potential, candy, clothes, you name it. I just want to hear if there is, as everybody is talking about, a double dip recession, if any numbers will be off this Halloween season, but you can get to that next time.
Hey, Andy, keep on dancing, lose yourself in the music. We'll come back to you in a couple minutes.
