CAROL COSTELLO: Seventeen minutes past the hour. Welcome back to "American Morning."
Of course, we're following a lot of breaking news out of Israel and Kenya. We're getting new information and trying to get our Mike Hanna up live. We're going to do that in just a second.

But first, we want to talk about that parade because it has begun. Giant helium-filled balloons and floats are making their way down Fifth Avenue in New York City as we speak.

Yes, I'm talking about the Macy's Thanksgiving parade.

Maria Hinojosa has a choice location, and she is watching all of the action.

Good morning to you again. You have a hat on now, it must be getting colder.

MARIA HINOJOSA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: A little colder.

But you know what, the excitement is fabulous out here, Carol, because the parade has begun. We just saw Charlie Brown pass, which got a big round of applause.

And over here, well, we've got Big Bird coming up; a lot of kids excited about that.

Whoa! Little bit of music behind us. That is just one of the 12 marching bands that we're going to be seeing here today. A thousand cheerleaders.

Let's listen in for a quick second.

COSTELLO: OK, we're taking a live look at the Macy's Day Thanksgiving parade (sic). Big Bird going down the street there.

And we'll keep following that as it happens.
