CAROL COSTELLO, CNN ANCHOR: Maria Hinojosa is shivering here in New York City where we begin. She's got a preview of the famed Macy's parade.
How cold are you -- Maria?

MARIA HINOJOSA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Oh, freezing! Freezing. But you know, as the sun comes up, it gets better and better.

And you just have to be inspired by seeing the people who start lining up out here on Central Park West. Starting at 6:00 in the morning they were out here with their families, because it's part of their tradition to come out, to get that spot, to bring the blankets, bring the coffee, so that they can be part of the 2.5 million people who are going to come out and watch the parade.

Lots of balloon favorites will be here, including Barney, Blue, Pippard (ph) and Pikachu (ph). And a couple of new ones. Charlie Brown is expected to be a big surprise today. Kermit the Frog will be back after 12 years, and Mr. Monopoly (ph), and a very important historical first. For the first time, they will have an African- American balloon that will be Little Bill from Nickelodeon's "Little Bill," a little cartoon that is set in Baltimore, and that is produced by Bill Cosby.

So, that's what's coming up here. A lot of people very excited, just can't wait to see those balloons make their way, so that everybody can then go home and get warm -- Carol.

COSTELLO: You know, I met a lady in the hotel elevator actually. She said she was going to go down there for five minutes just to say she was there, because it was just too cold.

HINOJOSA: It is. It is very cold.

COSTELLO: Maria Hinojosa, thank you. We'll get back to you in a bit.
