BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: We want to get to Iraq quickly. The inspectors again continue to fan out across the country today. The contingent has been beefed up. It seems to be making more surprise sites and surprise visits, as well.
Nic Robertson now live on the ground in Baghdad to tell us what's happening on this day, today, well into the second week of those inspections -- Nic, hello.
NIC ROBERTSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hello, Bill.
Well, outside the U.N. headquarters this morning, real evidence of just how many inspectors there are here in Baghdad. We saw several dozen of them milling around on the steps, getting ready to go out on their inspections. Seventy here in total now, 43 chemical, biological missile experts, 27 of the nuclear experts.
Now, the teams we saw go out today, one team went just north of Baghdad to a chemical facility. Another team went towards the west of Baghdad, to a facility that manufactures components for artillery.
The factory we went to with an inspection team today is a new one. They've never been there before. The previous inspection missions couldn't have gone there because it's only been built in 1999.
Now, the inspectors and the site director there told us that this site had been put on Iraq's new declaration. It was a new site. It was entirely a military site, making components for missiles, making components for tanks and other military equipment. We don't know what the inspectors were looking for, but again we were told full cooperation. But very interesting, the inspectors now beefing up their numbers, moving further afield and getting to some of the places that Iraq has been declaring. Not clear if it's only the recent declaration or maybe part of a declaration they made in October to the U.N. then, part of their semi-annual, two reports a year declaration -- Bill.
HEMMER: All right, Nic, thanks.
Nic Robertson again in Baghdad with what's happening today.
