JACK CAFFERTY, CNN CORRESPONDENT: One of my favorite guys now, Richard Quest, over there. It's all about Harry's hair. The Britain royal family, I mean it doesn't get any better than that, unless you look at American politicians. This is a double bone this morning here on AMERICAN MORNING. You've got Harry's hair in the news over there. The prince, Harry. And then you've got this guy who slept with Princess Diana, the guy who had, saying that he would never ever, ever sell these letters that he's got unless, of course, somebody offered him 16 million bucks.
Let's check in with Richard Quest and find out what all the dirt's about -- good morning.

RICHARD QUEST, CNN CORRESPONDENT: This -- good morning, Jack.

This is the story of Harry and the hair. The hair on his head, that is. Basically the plot was a so-called honey trap where a beautiful young woman was going to get next to him and then steal a piece of his hair. The idea, to test the DNA of his hair to see if Prince Charles is, in fact, Harry's father. The man they think he is the -- or the rumors are that could be the father is actually Major James Hewitt. Major James Hewitt, who, as you distastefully pointed out, slept with Princess Diana, he, of course, has the love letters, the 64 love letters that Diana wrote to Hewitt and now he's trying to sell for round about $16 million, having said he'd never sell them.

And you think you've got problems with Senator Lott.

CAFFERTY: Richard, I was just looking at that picture of Hewitt and then I was looking at that picture of Harry. There's a, you know what I'm saying? I mean...

QUEST: Read, in the book, "Diana: Closely Guarded Secret," this is discussed.

CAFFERTY: And the kid doesn't...

QUEST: It is actually...

CAFFERTY: Go ahead.

QUEST: It's, I'm going to put this, it says the red hair that gossips love to cite as proof is a Spencer trait. Apparently Diana's sister had it. And also look at the dates. Diana didn't meet Hewitt till 1986.

CAFFERTY: That we know of. QUEST: She had Harry in 19 -- well, thank you very much. She had Harry in 1984. I'm not getting involved in this.

CAFFERTY: Well, now, there's another thing that occurs to me. Harry doesn't have those big ears.

PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Oh, Jack.

QUEST: Oh.

ZAHN: You are so mean.

CAFFERTY: Why? I mean it's just that...

ZAHN: He is an attractive kid.

CAFFERTY: I'm not, I didn't say he wasn't...

ZAHN: I am here to stick up for Harry.

CAFFERTY: No, he's a great looking kid and he's probably better looking because he doesn't have those big ears. But somebody in those family has those big ears, doesn't he? Is he...

ZAHN: Richard, help me.

QUEST: Well, look, the fact is Diana said, and the quote from the book is really the classic of all, Paula. Diana said at the end of the day she doesn't know how they did have Harry, but she says they certainly did.

CAFFERTY: That's a pretty good way to end it right there.

Richard, good to see you.

Are you going to join us on Friday, my friend?

QUEST: If you'll have me.

CAFFERTY: Absolutely. We've got a chair waiting for you any day you want to come.

Richard Quest over there in London.

Thank you.
