BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: There are tearful and emotional reunions about to take place in Virginia this morning in a matter of moments. The USS George Washington bringing home 7,500 sailors and Marines after six months at sea. Family members now waiting at the Norfolk Naval Base, so, too, is Bob Franken waiting.
Got to be a good day, too, just in time for Christmas.
Bob, good morning.
BOB FRANKEN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Bill.
And you'll remember, just a couple of weeks ago when the carrier group the Harry S. Truman pulled out of here, it was replacing the George Washington, which was going to be steaming in after six months of sea in the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf, the areas Truman going out to take out for the next six months, and of course when these happen, two things seem to occur. One, you have rotten weather, it never seems to be anything but two, you have happy family members like these people.
Who are you waiting for?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I'm Carol Thompson from Saginaw, Michigan, and I'm waiting for my daughter, Carol Green.
Hey, punk (ph), can't wait to see you.
FRANKEN: Excited, aren't you?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Very excited.
FRANKEN: I want to compliment you on your beautiful hairstyle.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Thank you.
FRANKEN: Let's move down here. Bill, we will have an awe moment here.
OK, you're waiting for your husband, right?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes, my husband, Michael.
FRANKEN: And you're waiting for his father.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes, his daddy.
FRANKEN: This is 9-month-old Trevor, correct?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Nine month old Trevor, yes.
FRANKEN: So daddy has seen him, but I expect that Trevor has changed quite a bit.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh yes. When he left, he wasn't walking. Well, now, he's crawling, cruising, talking.
FRANKEN: Upstaging the reporter, grabbing it. Well, you must be very excited.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I'm so excited. I can't wait.
FRANKEN: Are you excited some.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Oh, yes. I'm ready for my dad to come home. I haven't seen him in a long time, and I'm just ready for him to come home.
FRANKEN: Lots to talk about?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Lots.
FRANKEN: It sounds like it's going to be a merry Christmas here for everybody.
Thank you very much.
