DR. SANJAY GUPTA, CNN ANCHOR: Many of you are waking up to a white Christmas, but that has come at a price. A snowstorm that is making its way through the northeast is blamed for at least a dozen deaths and is causing treacherous conditions for travelers.
Let's turn again now to Whitney Casey, who is standing by in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania -- Whitney, good morning again. How are things looking?

WHITNEY CASEY, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, things aren't looking too good here right now. Actually, it is raining. You said many people are waking up to a white Christmas. Well, here in Stroudsburg, PA they are waking up to a wet Christmas.

Actually, it's raining right now. It snowed a little bit earlier. As you can see behind me, the snow has sort of layered the ground here. We are in downtown Poconos, it is a historic district here.

I have my official little meter here. They said that there would be about two inches of snow, so let's see. We have got about -- this looks like to be about one inch here, but who knows. What they say, I read the "Pocono Record" this morning, they said that the last time it had measurable snow levels here was back in 1975, the year after I was born.

Anyway, they said it snowed about 4.6 inches then. They say later on today, the winds are supposed to pick up, it is supposed to be gusts of winds about 50 miles an hour, and the snow is supposed to pour down heavy here.

Now again, at the airports, there were heavy delays. Last night, I was flying out of Florida to get up here. It started raining very heavily there around 3:00. I flew in to Philly around 10:00.

My flight was severely delayed. There were lines all throughout the airport, so if you were planning on surprising somebody for Christmas Eve, you may not have made it, and today, you may not make it either because a lot of the flights up in the northeast are delayed or canceled.

So that is what we have got here. It's not snowing yet, it is raining here in the Poconos, but people are hunkering down. And I am starting to believe that nobody even lives here because we have not seen a soul out on these streets. We are the only ones here, and it's not because it's snowing, it's really just raining right now. Hopefully, everybody is just sort of sleeping in Christmas morning, and they are going to wake up to this beautiful scene out here in the Poconos -- Daryn, back to you.

DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Thank you so much. If you noticed, Whitney, we spared no expense here. Your new employer, CNN. We fly you in, give you a plastic ruler to do your weather live shot.

CASEY: Great, yes, I know. It is high tech out here.

KAGAN: They are inside -- yes, they are inside in the Poconos enjoying their gifts and their Christmas breakfast and we are outside in the wet with a plastic ruler. But we appreciate it. We appreciate it. So now that that is coming from us...

CASEY: Merry Christmas.

KAGAN: To you, too, Whitney, thanks so much.
