DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We have a special treat for you right now, a performance by Italian singing sensation Andrea Bocelli. He might be the ultimate crossover artist. His songs have scaled both the classical and the pop charts. Let's listen.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

ANDREA BOCELLI, SINGER: Sentimentally, it is an album speaking of love because there are 16 arias of love. It's very simple. It's language, very deep and very sensual.

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Sounds great. What explains, if you can put your finger on this for us, your rise to popularity all over the world in the past five years? You explain that how?

BOCELLI: It's too difficult. I don't know. I am the most surprised, believe me. I don't know.

HEMMER: Really? What are you going to sing for us today?

BOCELLI: I will perform an achuette (ph). It is a music of Rodrigo (ph), and it is a very beautiful piece because it's a story of a sad love.

HEMMER: Nice. The stage is yours, Andrea Bocelli.

BOCELLI: Thank you.

(SINGING)
