DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: Let's go ahead and check in Pennsylvania, which will be right in the middle of the storm's path. Whitney Casey joining us from Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania in the Poconos with a look at how things are developing there -- good morning once again, Whitney.
WHITNEY CASEY, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, and a wet morning right now. It's still raining here in the Poconos, although it did snow earlier. And Daryn, I know you made fun of my rinkydink ruler, so out with the ruler, and now we have a very fancy tape measure here. I'll show you. Isn't that great?

KAGAN: Fancy.

CASEY: Very fancy. We got an inch right here, OK? That's all we have right now. But what they're expecting -- 12? Twelve inches here, and that's throughout the day. So what, it may get up to be about right here, and that would be considerable snowfall because the last time there was that kind of snowfall here was back in 1975. There was 4.6 inches worth of snow on the ground.

Now, as for the city, I said earlier that I didn't think anybody lived here. We've actually seen two dogs and four people, so there are people that are starting to emerge out on the roads here. The roads are pretty perilous, though. Because it has been raining, there's a lot of ice on the roads. So certainly be careful if you're running around town.

In addition to that, if you were expecting anybody in the airports, you are not going to be seeing them today. There were a lot of flights that were canceled, and there are a lot of people that are stranded at the airports, and they are waiting, so if you're expecting a Christmas surprise, you may be waiting until New Years. Possibly not, but back in Florida where I came from earlier yesterday, it was raining considerably, and so a lot of the flights were delayed there, and a lot were canceled in the northeast. I flew up here last night. It was raining considerably, and then it did start to snow. And that's why we got about an inch to two inches here.

I will just show you around this area. As you can see, there aren't a lot of people here. But this is a courthouse, and it is blanketed with snow. It is really pretty out here, and that's the one thing if you are waking up this morning in the northeast right now, it's the calm before the storm. It is nice, but they're expecting wind gusts up to about 50 miles an hour, and heavy snow in about two or three hours. So to my family down in Florida, they're having a great Christmas because it's -- what, about 70 degrees here -- there, but here it's about 30, and we're expecting a lot of snow -- Daryn, back to you.

KAGAN: I hope they are watching, Whitney. Hey, Whitney, I have a kind of girlfriend to girlfriend weather question for you.

CASEY: Uh-oh. I'm no meteorologist.

KAGAN: No, but I think this is what America might want to know. We've been checking in with you for like three hours. You keep saying that it is raining and it is cold, and yet you look like you just came from shooting a Noxema commercial. How is that?

CASEY: Oh my gosh. You are way -- you are very nice. Look at this. I mean, my hair is disgusting. It's been raining all morning here. My crew is sopping wet. We've been standing out here and we are waiting for all of this snow. We can't wait. We wanted to have snowmen and snow angels for you guys, but really all it is is rain. But thank you.

KAGAN: Well, we appreciate -- we appreciate you guys being out in it. You're looking great. If I was there, I am telling you, the hair would be like bigger than the state of Pennsylvania, so keep up the good work. She does, she looks great.
