JONATHAN KARL, CNN ANCHOR: But let's check back on the brutal cold weather hitting the nation. In North Carolina snow is already falling and some parts of the state could actually get 10 inches of snow.
Melissa Marsh from our affiliate WXII joins us now from Greensboro, North Carolina.

It looks cold. How are you?

MELISSA MARSH, WXII-TV REPORTER: Well, good morning, Jonathan.

It's about 20 degrees here this morning, but the wind chill makes it feel like it's below zero. If you take a look out here on our roads, you'll see that they are packed with snow, which just is unusual here in North Carolina. The schools are out. A lot of people aren't traveling this morning. And of course people are overreacting, they've bought their bread and their milk. They are prepared to stay indoors today.

It is get -- supposed to get below zero tonight. So certainly it is going to be a chilly day here in North Carolina. In the mountains we have around 10 inches of snow. And here in Greensboro, North Carolina, we have around two to four inches -- Jonathan.

KARL: I can imagine the overreaction. In Washington, D.C. if we get an inch or two, everything is paralyzed. I can't imagine 10 inches in North Carolina.

Thank you very much.
