BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: It's snowing outside, did you see that?
DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: I saw that.
HEMMER: Tough to miss today. Throughout the program today, we're going to be checking in on conditions up and down the East Coast. It's really dropping just about everywhere.
Paul Moniz of WCBS, our CNN affiliate in New York, now in Melville, Long Island where it's coming down there as well. More so than the city, Paul, good morning?
PAUL MONIZ, WCBS-TV REPORTER: Good morning, Bill.
There's about three inches on the ground here in Long Island. You know this storm has really hit southern New Jersey and central and eastern Long Island quite hard. Six to eight inches expected. And despite the aggressive efforts by salters and plows to keep things clear, there are many slick spots.
This morning we ran into several accidents as we was traveling to this area along the Long Island Expressway, most of them involving SUVs who spun out. Those who plow these roads say the SUV drivers tend to have a false sense of security because they have four wheel drive. And police are reminding all drivers to take it slow.
The snow is expected to continue into the evening in some areas. Right now no major problems, a few school cancellations, but no major accidents, which is good news.
We're live in Melville, Long Island. Back to you.
HEMMER: Good deal. Paul, quickly here, how much on the ground out there thus far -- you say how much?
MONIZ: About three inches right now. Generally that seems to be what we're hearing here and in Jersey. But again, with the morning rush, it is a concern as more people head in and out of the city.
HEMMER: You got it. We can expect more. Thanks, Paul, enjoy it. Stay safe out there.
Paul Moniz of WCBS on Long Island there.
