PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: Now we move on to more on the hunt for clues into the disappearance of Laci Peterson. Police in California yesterday impounded a truck belonging to her husband, Scott, but they're still not saying he's a suspect.
Laci vanished nearly two months ago, and was due to give birth on February 10.

Rusty Dornin is standing by in Modesto with the very latest on the investigation.

Good morning -- Rusty.

RUSTY DORNIN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Paula.

Well, Scott Peterson was forced to spend the night somewhere else last night. Police did seal up he and Laci Peterson's house last night, because they did not finish the search that they began yesterday. You can see the police car that's been parked out front all night long. Investigators are due to be back here in about four hours.

Now, police arrived on Scott Peterson's doorstep about 8:00 a.m. yesterday morning, armed with a second search warrant. The first was served the day after Laci Peterson disappeared. Scott Peterson was very cooperative, police say, and did stay around the house for a couple of hours and then left, leaving with some work-related and some personal items.

Now, the police did take out about 40 bags of evidence, and what we could see, some of the labels even included things like phone books and photo albums. They searched inside and outside near the pool, but they say they have not finished yet.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

DET. SCOTT RIDENOUR, MODESTO, CALIFORNIA POLICE: You never know when you get into a search warrant. So it just -- you just have to go into the search warrant, and depending on what you find and how fast things go during the search, all of those are factors on how quick the completion of a search warrant occurs.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DORNIN: Now, investigators did bring Amy Rocha, Laci Peterson's sister, over to the house yesterday and went inside. The significance of that is that she might know if any of her sister's things were missing. Also, she was one of the last people to see Laci Peterson, other than Scott Peterson, because the couple did come into the hair salon, and Amy Rocha did cut Scott Peterson's hair.

Now, Scott Peterson's truck was impounded, his brand-new truck that he bought about five weeks after Laci Peterson disappeared. Police kept it most of the day, but you can now see it parked in the driveway. They did bring it back sometime yesterday afternoon -- Paula.

ZAHN: Rusty, you described the bags of stuff they carted out of the house. I guess at one point when Scott Peterson left the house, he came back a couple of hours later and happened to hand over some papers to the police. Does anybody know what that was about?

DORNIN: No, we have not heard what that was about. I'm sure it had something to do with the search warrant. But it's very difficult to see what's inside these bags, Paula. Of course, they're brown paper bags, some of them are Hefty bags. But you could see some labels on the sides of some of the bags, which is why we knew that -- you know, one had a phone book and there were photo albums. So, they are really going through the house and scouring what they can.

We can also see through the fence occasionally, and we can see them just searching around the pool area and up into the rafters near the house.

ZAHN: Rusty Dornin, keep us posted. Thanks so much.
