BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Meanwhile, Baghdad today dismissing that proposal at the U.N., calling it a plan for war.
For more on the Iraqi front, here's Rym Brahimi now in the Iraqi capital -- Rym, hello.
RYM BRAHIMI, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Bill, indeed, a condition for war is what Iraq's foreign minister is calling that proposal. He was speaking to Al Jazeera, saying that as far as Iraq's concerned, it's not up for discussion. The prime minister also saying that some of the countries in the U.N. Security Council as well as most prominent members believe that the resolution they're working under, 1441, is not only workable, it's being implemented.
Pointing to the U.N. chief weapons inspector, they're saying inspections are working and saying the U.S. and Britain are just trying to get international cover to launch a war.
Meanwhile here in Baghdad, the destruction of the Al Samoud 2 missiles continues. We'll hear more on how many have been destroyed so far. About half of the total number of the Al Samoud missiles have been destroyed. And despite today, despite this being a Muslim holiday, at least seven other sites have been checked out by inspectors, again, despite this being a Muslim holiday they have access to all these sites.
Many Iraqi officials privately believe the U.S. will launch an attack no matter what and a lot of them say we're cooperating as much as we can, we don't know what more we can do -- Bill.
HEMMER: Rym Brahimi in Baghdad.
Thanks.
