PAULA ZAHN, CNN ANCHOR: We're going to leave it there and try to quickly check in with Barbara Starr at the Pentagon for the very latest from there in advance of this briefing.
Good morning -- Barbara.

BARBARA STARR, CNN PENTAGON CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Paula.

Well, as Bill Hemmer was saying, the weather is clearing over the region, so officials here are saying expect to see stepped-up attacks. The key goal right now is to begin to degrade -- further degrade and attack some of those Republican Guard units south of Baghdad.

We expect that that's a lot of the strategy we'll be seeing in the days ahead.
