BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Speaking of the president, back to the Lincoln right now. That aircraft carrier setting the stage last night for the speech in primetime. The sailors now anxiously looking forward to the docking. That's a given right now. A happy homecoming there. Frank Buckley is aboard the carrier and joins us again live.
Frank, hello.
FRANK BUCKLEY, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Bill.
A great deal of excitement as you might imagine on the USS Abraham Lincoln. The last meal for many of these guys happening here on the mess decks, here on the enlisted side, the guys here at the serving line.
Let me just show you one thing here -- take a look at this bacon. They've been at sea for 10 months now. This is how much bacon they had -- 9,100 pounds of bacon during this 10,000 -- or 10-month deployment. It probably felt like 10,000 months for a lot of these guys. One of the persons leaving the ship today is Dave Worthy (ph) here.
Tell me how you're feeling?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: We're real excited about being home. It's been a long time, and we're looking forward to seeing our loved ones again.
BUCKLEY: Tell me, who is going to meet you at shore, and what are you going to say to them?
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: I got my wife and mother meeting me at home, and I love you and I've been missing you. That's all you can say.
BUCKLEY: Thanks, Dave. Good luck.
One quick person, I want to talk to Tanneka Hamilton (ph). Tanneka, your mom's not going to meet you, but she's sitting there in Vallejo. Angela Reese (ph), you're daughter here is going to surprise you.
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Hi, mom. I love you guys. I'll be home soon.
BUCKLEY: She didn't expect you to come home today. She is expecting you in a few days, but you're going to take leave early?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: Yes.
BUCKLEY: What are you going to say to mom when you get home?
UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: That I love her and miss her.
BUCKLEY: All right, thanks a lot.
And we wanted to show you a quick shot outside. You're looking at the beautiful sunset off the bow of the USS Abraham Lincoln, as the ship steams to San Diego for those happy reunions -- Bill.
HEMMER: Wow, what a sight it is. Thanks, Frank. Frank Buckley on the Lincoln.
