DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: We turn to Iraq now. Another U.S. soldier has been killed in Iraq after an unknown assailant fired a rocket propelled grenade at U.S. forces. It happened in Fallujah west of Baghdad, a hotbed of recent violence against U.S. forces.
Jane Arraf joins us live now from Fallujah -- Jane, hello.
JANE ARRAF, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hi, Daryn.
Well, it's fairly calm now, but there's still a lot of anger against U.S. soldiers. We're down at the site where this attack took place and it does appear that a rocket propelled grenade was launched from across the street very early in the morning at a unit of the 3rd Armored Calvary of the 101st Airborne that was in an abandoned police station, a police station that had been abandoned, looted and burned after the fall of Saddam Hussein's regime.
Now, as you mentioned, one soldier was killed and five others were injured.
There's still a crowd there and they explained to us why exactly people here are so upset. They said that they were happy to see Saddam Hussein go, but they want the Americans to go now, too. They said they don't need anyone here.
Now, this has, as you mentioned, been a hotbed of violence. It's outwardly calm, but there is really a lot resentment here against American troops. And part of that is because this was an area that's a very conservative town and in some senses, there's really a culture clash. They say that soldiers have been going into house to house searches, being rude to women and it's offended people very deeply, according to them, and in some cases, they say, it's erupted in violence -- Daryn.
KAGAN: Jane Arraf in Fallujah.
Thank you.
