SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: One of the NBA's biggest and most respected stars may be in trouble with the law -- sorry about that. Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant is accused of sexual assault. Police say a woman alleges the misconduct occurred in a Colorado hotel.
Charles Feldman is live at the Lakers arena, the Staples Center, in Los Angeles for us this morning.

Hey, Charles, good morning.

CHARLES FELDMAN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Soledad.

Yes, could be big trouble ahead for 24-year-old Kobe Bryant. He is out on $25,000 bond, being accused now of sexually assaulting a young woman in Eagle County. That's near the resort town of Vail, Colorado.

He has been charged by police, but not yet by the county district attorney, and that's the charge that, if it comes, will really matter to him, whether or not he faces a trial and whether or not he faces big legal problems in the state of Colorado.

For the meantime, though, the Lakers organization -- the Los Angeles Lakers is standing by its man.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MITCH KUPCHAK, LAKERS GENERAL MANAGER: Our players, including Kobe, gets 100 percent of our support all of the time, and in this particular case that's absolutely the case.

KAREEN RUSH, TEAMMATE OF BRYANT: That's totally out of his character. But, you know, who knows? I don't think it's true, so I'm going to stand by him and say that it's 100 percent not true.

JANERRO PARGO, TEAMMATE OF BRYANT: He's a great teammate, and, you know, he's a happily married man, you know. And I'm sure he's happy. You know, he talks about his wife all of the time. so, I mean, I just can't wait for the truth to come out.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

FELDMAN: Now, what we don't know at this hour is whether or not he is still in Colorado -- Bryant that is -- or whether he is back here in southern California. He does live in nearby Orange County with his young bride and an even younger infant, a baby that was born to him and his wife only this past January -- Soledad.

O'BRIEN: All right, Charles Feldman, thank you for that -- reporting for us from L.A. this morning.
