SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Police in California don't have the weapons or blood evidence to connect an elementary school vice principal to the killings of his wife, their three children and his mother-in-law. Investigators are promising to be relentless, but right now they say they're frustrated.
CNN's Miguel Marquez is live for us from Bakersfield this morning.

Good morning to you -- Miguel.

MIGUEL MARQUEZ, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning there, Soledad.

Yes, police here are frustrated because they do have a suspect, but as yet they've been unable to make an arrest.

There is some new information on this case. A search warrant affidavit lays out some of the information the investigators have to suspect 41-year-old Vincent Brooks (sic) killed his estranged wife, mother-in-law and his three young children. The warrant says Bakersfield police are looking for a 22-caliber weapon, a fairly small caliber weapon, and a stabbing weapon used in the murder. It also says they suspected Brothers because he failed to provide an alibi immediately and then didn't himself in right away.

The family of five was found dead in their Bakersfield home on Tuesday. Brothers turned himself in later that day in North Carolina. He was arrested, then let go when Bakersfield police said they did not have the evidence to charge him.

But a cousin of Brothers is saying it would not surprise her if he killed them.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

ODILA BRISBY, VINCENT BROTHERS' COUSIN: He don't have no remorse about nothing. He's just walking like -- I mean, his family is still walking around here living, his family is gone. You know, he could be going out crying, you know, doing something. He just don't care. It seems like another O.J. Simpson thing going on, just get away with murder.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

MARQUEZ: Now, another twist in this case is that Bakersfield police are saying that part of the reason to release Brothers was that they had new information coming out of Ohio. Detectives were apparently sent there yesterday. We are still waiting to find out where exactly they went in Ohio and what exactly it is they found -- Soledad.

O'BRIEN: All right, Miguel, one quick question for you. Are investigators telling you that there are any other suspects that they have in mind at this point?

MARQUEZ: At this point, they say that they are investigating other leads, but they have no other suspects. Brothers is still the person they are most suspecting.

O'BRIEN: All right, in Bakersfield, CNN's Miguel Marquez. Thanks for that report.
