BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Let's go to Colorado, where Kobe Bryant has hired two well respected attorneys in that state to try and defend him against sexual assault charges. And they're scouring Eagle County, trying to gather information on Bryant's accuser.
Deborah Feyerick live in Eagle County with more on this -- Deborah, good morning.
DEBORAH FEYERICK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Bill.
Well, scouring is definitely the right word. While the district attorney is investigating this case, so, too, is Kobe Bryant's defense team.
CNN has learned that an investigator from Denver is in town and the investigator has been questioning friends and acquaintances of the young woman. The investigator is tracking down rumors and leads, anything that could possibly use, be used at trial, perhaps even to discredit this young woman.
There's lots of information floating around, some of it flattering to the young woman, some of if unflattering the young woman. Now it seems the whole town is cracking down.
The family and the district attorney have told friends to stop talking to the media. Hotels in the area are warning their employees that if they do speak, they could be fired. CNN has also learned the crackdown could stretch into the courts, a source telling CNN that the judge could set limits on what both sides can and cannot say publicly.
All the files in this case are sealed. The results of the lab tests are scheduled to come back. These will likely include blood, DNA, as well as toxicology to determine whether either Kobe Bryant or the young woman had any drugs or alcohol in their system when this alleged rape took place.
The D.A. charged Bryant based on preliminary lab tests, but the tests, the written report could come back within the next two to three weeks -- Bill.
HEMMER: All right, Deborah, thanks.
August 6 again the anticipated date when Kobe Bryant will be back in that state.
Deborah Feyerick live in Eagle today.
