LEON HARRIS, CNN ANCHOR: We go to Kansas, where flooding killed four children. And the search continues for two people who were swept away, including the mother of the dead children.
Three of the children were still strapped in a minivan that had been washed away in the flooding.
Joe Sheeran of affiliate KWCH is live now from Emporia, Kansas, with more on this.
JOE SHEERAN, CNN AFFILIATE KWCH REPORTER: Leon, That search is expected to start around 6:30 Central Time. It's within the next half hour. We're actually waiting for the sun to come up.
They're going to be out there with Belgium Malinois dogs and German Shepherd dogs. They're going to be searching an area about a mile from the road. The reason why that area is a mile from the road is because the flooding was so bad it actually took away part of the embankment here.
There are also several of those giant construction barricades that are about 12,000 pounds apiece. The flood waters also took them out.
It actually took the folks in their cars, about seven cars, around a winding area, and they were taken out. And search crews are going to be on the scene at sun-up, and that's the latest from here.
Just to let you know, they don't expect any more flooding today, so the weather conditions should be cooperative.
HARRIS: Well, at least that's something to look forward to there. Thanks, Joe. Joe Sheeran from our affiliate KWCH. We appreciate that report.
