SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Let's go back to Iraq. As we reported just a moment ago, two more U.S. soldiers were killed this morning when their Humvee hit an explosive device. And there has been another car bombing. This one only hours ago blew up near an Iraqi police station in Baghdad.
CNN's Rym Brahimi joins us live now from the Iraqi capital.
Rym -- good morning.
RYM BRAHIMI, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning to you, Soledad.
No relent in violence here, in the past four weeks especially. This is the fourth car bombing in about as many weeks.
Now, a major from the police said that the car exploded in a car park that was right by a police station, a car park that actually belonged to that police station, not far from the police academy. But he said there was a thick wall between the police building and the car park, which is what prevented the explosion from causing more serious damage.
He did say that one person was seriously injured, but we know from the hospital that's been taking in some of the wounded people, the hospital says some 18 other people have been wounded in that blast.
Eyewitnesses at the scene and journalists at the scene say they saw a few people being carried away as well that seemed to be injured. And four of the cars that were around the car that blew up were also severely damaged.
Now, the area has been cordoned off, Soledad, and there is a massive, heavy U.S. presence, as well as Iraqi police, at the scene, and a few fire engines are there as well.
Now, all of this happened right after a couple of incidents here. Overnight, a U.S. soldier from the 1st Armored Division died in what seems to have been a helicopter accident. We'll have more details on that as soon as we get them.
And also yesterday, two U.S. military police were killed when their Humvee hit an improvised explosive device or hit a bomb, if you will, a little bomb on the road. It was a main supply road south of the Iraqi capital. It's not the first time obviously that U.S. soldiers or U.S. military police are attacked in a similar fashion -- Soledad. O'BRIEN: CNN's Rym Brahimi reporting for us from Baghdad this morning. Rym, thanks.
