BILL HEMMER, ANCHOR: The FBI still piecing together evidence from that bizarre bank robbery in Erie, Pennsylvania, last week.
A pizza deliveryman with a bomb locked around his neck told police he was forced to rob a bank. That bomb went off, killing him, while begging police to free him and set him free.

Mike Brooks following the case, live in Erie, Pennsylvania, trying to piece this together for us again.

Mike, good morning.

MIKE BROOKS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Bill.

At 11 a.m. Eastern this morning, the Pennsylvania State Police, along with the FBI, are expected to show a picture to the public of what they describe as a unique weapon that was found in the car of Brian Wells after the bomb went off at the bank, where he was caught coming out after this bizarre robbery.

Now, they say that -- special agent Ken McCabe of the FBI Pittsburgh office said that it is a unique weapon. It is not what people traditionally think of as a gun. So to shed more light on that this morning.

They're also going to talk about why they were back at the TV transmission tower on Tuesday evening. The task force members were there collecting additional evidence. They had been there early on in the investigation.

Now, this transition tower, Bill, is where Brian Wells had supposedly delivered a pizza before he showed up at the bank. This was the address that he was sent to by his pizza shop. He delivered two pizzas there.

The next time they saw him he was at the bank holding it up. As he was coming out, he was caught by state police with this bomb around his neck.

CNN has also learned from law enforcement sources, Bill, that the bomb, in fact, was a pipe bomb -- Bill.

HEMMER: Mike, some intriguing information on this coming yesterday from the FBI agent in charge. He told us here on AMERICAN MORNING that they're still examining the penmanship that found on two separate notes that he had in possession and they have not ruled out just yet, according to yesterday's report, whether this was actually the handwriting of Brian Wells.

Is there more to that today, a day later?

BROOKS: Well, they're talk -- They say they may release some of that note today. It's not known as of yet. We spoke with source this morning said they don't know if they're going to release part of that note.

But apparently, parts of that note were considered very, very unique in the style of the writing. So that may shed some light, also. They wouldn't say if they were able to get any handwriting samples of his own writing from his house when they served a search warrant there earlier in the week. So hopefully we'll shed some light on the note also -- Bill.

HEMMER: Mike Brooks, thanks, in Erie, Pennsylvania.
