SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: We also learned this morning that the legendary Johnny Cash died in Nashville, Tennessee. And, Cash, of course, was known as the man in black and became famous for such country hits as "I Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Sunday Morning Coming Down."
He lost his wife, June Carter Cash, back in May.
Jamie Reese of station WTBF is at Baptist Hospital in Nashville -- Jamie, good morning.
JAMIE REESE, WTBF CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Soledad.
Johnny Cash died here at Baptist Hospital in Nashville around two o'clock this morning from complications from diabetes. It ultimately led to respiratory failure. He had been in and out of this hospital in recent months, being treated for pneumonia, a form of Parkinson's and a stomach ailment. He was actually just released from the hospital for that stomach ailment earlier this week.
Now, fans of country music consider Johnny Cash and his late wife June Carter Cash nothing short of country music royalty. This morning his fans are convinced he died of a broken heart.
He leaves behind five children and funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. A manager says they will be announced very soon, as soon as they are made, and we do anticipate that they'll -- it will be open to the public.
Reporting live in Nashville, I'm Jamie Reese -- Soledad, back to you.
