SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Turning now to Iraq and new violence there, two coalition soldiers killed this morning in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. Meantime, there are reports that U.S. troops have mistakenly killed some Iraqi police officers. The incident occurred at a checkpoint near Fallujah.
Nic Robertson is there.

He's got a live report for us now by video phone -- Nic, what have you learned?

NIC ROBERTSON, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Soledad, not all the details are yet clear. What we've been told by the Iraqi police is that they were pursuing a car that had opened fire on their police station down this highway, past the Jordanian military field hospital that is located behind me. According to the police officers then at that stage, for some reason, they don't know why, the U.S. troops opened fire on the police. They killed eight Fallujah protection force personnel. They are an ancillary force that works with the Iraqi police. Two of the Fallujah protection force personnel were also injured at that time. Seven Iraqi policemen were injured. One Iraqi policeman was killed, as well.

Now, the gunfire also hit the Jordanian field hospital behind me. The Jordanian troops there believed that they were under fire, returned fire and according to the Jordanian Ministry of Information, one Jordanian officer was killed and four Jordanian officers wounded.

There is an investigation going on. Some family members have arrived here at the Jordanian field hospital to try and find the bodies of their loved ones. They have been very angry and upset about the situation, very angry at the U.S. troops at this time -- Soledad.

O'BRIEN: Nic, we also have a report of the death of two coalition soldiers, many more wounded. What do you know about those early reports?

ROBERTSON: That took place 25 miles west of here in the town of Ramadi. This whole area has seen quite a significant increase recently of attacks against the U.S. troops who are based around here, the 3rd Armored Calvary Regiment and the 3rd Infantry Division located in this area.

The incident last night took place at 3:00 a.m. in the morning. The troops were mounting a raid in the town of Ramadi. During that raid, we're told a firefight broke out. Two soldiers were killed, seven soldiers were injured (AUDIO GAP)... O'BRIEN: All right, obviously we're having a little bit of trouble, audio problems there with Nic Robertson, who was reporting for us from Fallujah this morning, but getting to us basically with an update on the information from there.
