SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: The 55th Annual Emmy Awards last night in Los Angeles had some surprises. But it also had some familiar winners. NBC's "The West Wing" beat "The Sopranos" and "Six Feet Under," to take the top drama award. But everybody's favorite mob family didn't go away empty-handed. James Gandolfini took top actor awards, among three acting awards for "The Sopranos."
Jodi Ross is live for us in Los Angeles this morning -- hey, get any sleep last night?
Good morning.
JODI ROSS, CNN CORRESPONDENT: No, Soledad, I haven't slept yet. But that's OK, because it was a great night and I had a good time. Those bad boys from New Jersey, they came back with a vengeance after being out of Emmy contention last year. They took home four trophies Sunday night, including, as you said, for best actor, James Gandolfini; best actress, Edie Falco. They did not, however, get one for best drama and they never have. That honor went to "The West Wing." But Edie Falco told me she was not disappointed.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
EDIE FALCO, BEST ACTRESS DRAMA: I'm not. I don't know, everybody says such nice things about the show and I had so many lovely people who I don't know come up to me and say these things about what the show means to them. I don't know, I can't say that I'm disappointed. I just, I get what I need as far as feedback is concerned.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
ROSS: So, Soledad, I asked her, while I had her in my clutches, Edie Falco, what happens to Carmella this season on "The Sopranos?" And what she said was if I tell you, I'd have to kill you. So in the interests of self-protection, we just left it at that.
O'BRIEN: Don't ask, you don't want to know.
A quick question for you. "Six Feet Under" got so many nominations and then is it fair to say robbed?
ROSS: Robbed is fair. The same thing happened to them last year, Soledad. They came in with 23 nominations, which is even more than this year, walked away with one. Their track record is not good and I think they were disappointed and robbed, as well.
O'BRIEN: Oh, yes, and we're disappointed for them, as well.
All right, Jodi, thanks.
We'll check in with you a little bit later in our 90 second pop segment, coming up in just a little bit.
ROSS: Great.
