ANDERSON COOPER, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, now to the series of highway shootings in Ohio. Businesses in the Columbus area are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to any arrest. A 62-year-old woman was killed last Tuesday while riding in a car on Interstate 270. She was the first casualty in the series of 11 shootings which began back in May.
Kris Osborn is live with the latest from Columbus -- good morning, Kris.

KRIS OSBORN, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Hey, good morning to you, Anderson.

Well, along with that reward you mentioned, investigators praised the high number of tips. They say more than 300 different tidbits of information have come into investigators. Another thing investigators emphasize is the geographical area of this string of shootings, shootings which have alarmed many members of the community.

One of the things they say is it's helped the investigation to have a geographical area where these shootings have taken place within a reasonable proximity to one another, giving them a sense of those who might be helpful to the investigation, people that they can talk to.

One of the things, though, this highway strip which borders the capital of Columbus has been very heavily trafficked at some times, less trafficked at others. Some people are pretty confident and just go about their way. Others are feeling a bit skittish. We spoke to some along the road.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: I'm really concerned. You know, I travel alone. I work second shift and I have three kids. So, yes, it's a big concern of mine.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: A lot of people are talking about it. I read the newspaper every day and, you know, it just, it kind of makes you scared because you don't know where it's coming from and you just, you know, I mean I hope they catch him.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You'd like to think that, you know, well, that'll never happen to me. But it's happening so yes, I'm concerned about it.

(END VIDEO CLIP) OSBORN: So there you hear some of the passenger anxieties in the general area, and a gas station owner in that case, as well. One of the things that investigators discussed, as well, was the bullet. It was a bullet fragment, of course, which linked the killing of Gail Knisley to at least one of the other shootings. And forensic experts will tell you about how bullets, when they come out of the barrel of a gun, they have a specific marking on them which can lead them to make connections which are useful for the investigation -- Anderson.

COOPER: Kris, you talked about linking the bullet. Have they been able to identify any particular kind of weapon which is being used?

OSBORN: A very interesting question, Anderson, because, yes, they have identified a weapon. They have linked these bullets and some additional things such as shell casings to a weapon. But for reasons we, of course, understand, they're not going to talk about what the exact weapon is because investigators know that's the kind of trail that they follow back to a potential suspect in something like this -- Anderson.

COOPER: All right, Kris Osborn following the story for us from Ohio this morning.

Thanks very much, Kris.

OSBORN: Sure.

Thank you.
