SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: News this morning in the ongoing war on terror. A man who is alleged to have links to al Qaeda is in custody. He was arrested by federal authorities Tuesday in Minneapolis.
For details now, we go to justice correspondent Kelli Arena. She's in our Washington bureau this morning.
Kelli -- good morning.
KELLI ARENA, CNN JUSTICE CORRESPONDENT: Good morning, Soledad.
Everything about this case remains under seal. So, the details still are quite sketchy.
Here's what we know so far. Law enforcement sources tell us that this individual was taken into custody in Minneapolis on Tuesday. He's being held as a material witness. Those sources say that this man allegedly trained in al Qaeda camps. He's not a U.S. citizen, they say, and they said that he's been in the United States for some time, but they would not provide any specifics.
Now, according to one source, the man has provided some information about Zacarias Moussaoui. Now, he's the self-confessed al Qaeda operative, who was also taken into custody in Minnesota in August of 2001, just before the September 11 attacks. It's unclear whether the two had any relationship.
Now, Moussaoui, as you know, is the only person charged in the United States in connection with the September 11 attacks. The case against him has been stalled in the courts over issues of national security. It's not clear what role, if any, this individual will play in that case if it ever gets to trial.
Soledad -- back to you.
O'BRIEN: All right, Kelli Arena for us this morning. Kelli, thanks.
