SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Uma Thurman was among the nominees for best actress in a motion picture. She also helped announce the nominations live just minutes ago. She joins us this morning from Beverly Hills.
Uma, nice to see you. Thanks for joining us.

And first and foremost, really, congratulations. How does it feel to be nominated?

UMA THURMAN, ACTRESS: Oh, it feels great. Thank you so much. It was really, really fun. It was so much fun to be...

O'BRIEN: You really -- go ahead, I'm sorry.

THURMAN: No, just to get to read other people's nominations, so that somewhere people are so happy, and then they nominated me, as well. And so it was really, really nice.

O'BRIEN: That's wonderful.

It's really been good for you to team up, also, hasn't it, with Quentin Tarantino? You got an Academy Award nomination back in I think it was '96, right? So you've been a...

THURMAN: '94.

O'BRIEN: '94, forgive me. Good teamwork there. Have you talked to him? Have you -- you've got the only nomination?

THURMAN: Not yet. I'm going to call him right away. No, I did. So I'm kind of representing the whole movie and all the massive amount of work that went into it. And really his work. So this nomination is for him, as well.

O'BRIEN: Did you have any reservations going in? The film, obviously, has done really well, critically, financially as well. But it's very violent, and many critics point that out every time they talk about the movie. They say it's a very violent movie. Any reservations about doing that?

THURMAN: You know, more when I did "Pulp Fiction," because before I understood his style, and his comic take and the way he uses it in a very expressionistic way; it's not realistic. So I was more scared when I first read "Pulp Fiction," I thought oh, my goodness, what is this? I think I understand him as an artist, and I think he walks an incredible edge, and I think it works. And most people actually find it surprisingly less disturbing when they watch it than they expect.

O'BRIEN: You've got a new movie that's coming out called "Paycheck," and that stars Ben Affleck, as well. Were you able to put any of the martial arts training that you had from "Kill Bill" into this new movie?

THURMAN: Well, I didn't have very much action in "Paycheck." Ben carries most of it. But I certainly was very fit and trained for it when I started.

THURMAN: That's a good upside. We mentioned that the awards, I think it's going to be on January 25th they announced. Have you already thought about what you're going to wear?

THURMAN: No, I haven't. I'm kind of a little bit overwhelmed here running around. I don't know. I'll take any suggestions.

O'BRIEN: All right. First, you call Quentin, then you pick out your dress. You've got a busy day ahead of you. Uma Thurman, thanks again for joining us. Again, congratulations. Nice to chat with you.

THURMAN: Thank you.
