SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: Now to that amazing story of an American woman who survived last month's catastrophic earthquake in Iran. Adele Freedman was in the town of Bam with the man that she loved when the earthquake struck, but only she made it home alive.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

O'BRIEN (voice-over): Adele Freedman says she doesn't feel lucky, even though she knows she is.

ADELE FREEDMAN, SURVIVED EARTHQUAKE IN IRAN: I just remember lying there in the dark. I was face down and my head was buried in my pillow. I could only breathe through my mouth.

O'BRIEN: Adel, 39, survived the deadly earthquake that killed more than 30,000 people in the tiny town of Bam, Iran.

FREEDMAN: And I said to Tobb, you know, 'We're going to die.' And he said, "No, we're not. They're going to get us out. We're going to be fine."
