BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: As Martha Stewart gets ready for her trial next week, how is she keeping busy these days?
Andy Serwer has been Minding Your Business. He's checking in on Martha and more.
Good morning.
ANDY SERWER, "FORTUNE" MAGAZINE: And more. Good morning to you guys again.
Well, Martha Stewart apparently is busy tending to her Web site, as well as preparing for her trial. She will be in court a week from tomorrow.
But meanwhile, at marthatalks.com, you can check out all of the updates -- that is, from Martha's point of view. Apparently, she is selecting pictures and very much involved in everything that goes on. So, if you want to follow the trial from her point of view.
SOLEDAD O'BRIEN, CNN ANCHOR: So, these are pictures about the trial?
SERWER: No, those are pictures of just fans and things that she's doing to support and prepare, all sorts of letters, I mean...
O'BRIEN: So, she talks about that on her Web site.
SERWER: Yes, yes.
O'BRIEN: Really?
SERWER: I think it's really amazing.
HEMMER: (UNINTELLIGIBLE) that once the trial begins to see how that Web site goes in terms of feedback and what's written there.
O'BRIEN: Yes.
SERWER: Yes, right.
O'BRIEN: Interesting.
HEMMER: A ban on MCI was lifted, a huge federal contract has been awarded. There is more news on this?
SERWER: Yes. Well, we talked about this last week, the timing of this -- that MCI is getting out of double-secret triple probation from the government right in time to bid on this big contract the other day. And guess what? They were awarded the contract. So, they apparently are getting back into shape, looking to come out of bankruptcy over the next couple of weeks.
HEMMER: Got it. Andy Fastow is in the news again today. What's happening (UNINTELLIGIBLE)?
O'BRIEN: The countdown we were doing on Friday...
SERWER: Right, we were doing a countdown, and everyone indicated that they were going to accept this plea bargain, and it was going to be worked out as of Friday, Soledad. But it did not happen. Now, there are some reports that it's dead. Our understanding is that it is not dead; that negotiations continue between Lea Fastow and the government. They also involve Andy Fastow, and, of course, involve the two small children as well. So, a fluid situation down in Houston.
HEMMER: As we like to say. And we also like to say fluid in the NFL.
SERWER: Yes.
HEMMER: By the way, this guy is -- he's not bad actually.
O'BRIEN: You were right on the money. Yes.
SERWER: I was almost 4 for 4 until the Packers gave the game away. I'm not going to give -- I'll give Philadelphia credit. OK, I had the wrong "P" there. Remember my...
HEMMER: That's exactly right.
SERWER: Remember by "P" strategy?
HEMMER: The "P" strategy.
O'BRIEN: I was listening to the game.
SERWER: Yes.
O'BRIEN: And I said, 'Which "P" did he pick?' Because I can't remember.
SERWER: Bret Favre, why did you throw that lame duck?
HEMMER: Because he was about to get his head taken off.
SERWER: Oh, why didn't they go for it on fourth down? How come you let Donovan complete the fourth and 26?
(CROSSTALK)
SERWER: I've got nothing against Philadelphia. I mean, I liked seeing Donovan McNabb -- Rush Limbaugh's favorite football player -- you know, succeeding like that. That's kind of fun.
HEMMER: You know, the point is, though, three of these games went into overtime over the weekend, and any one of them could have gone the other way...
SERWER: Right.
HEMMER: ... had one play or two gone differently.
SERWER: And the Colts over the Panthers in the Super Bowl, but I still reserve my right to change my mind. I've got to examine the tea leaves a little bit until we get later in the week.
HEMMER: I think the Panthers look really good right now, the way they played in St. Louis.
SERWER: Yes, great.
HEMMER: Thank you, Andy.
SERWER: All right.
O'BRIEN: Thanks, Andy. Appreciate it.
