BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: A witness to one of yesterday's highway shootings in Ohio has given police descriptions of a gunman and a getaway car. The two new shootings were in the same area where 21 previous shootings are now under investigation, all in central Ohio, all around Columbus, Ohio and the beltway there, 270.
Jeff Flock is live in Columbus this morning -- Jeff, good morning.

JEFF FLOCK, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Bill, good morning to you from a breezy, brisk Columbus this morning.

You say gunman, and, in fact, that's what it may turn out to be. A witness describes a white male, young to middle-aged and has perhaps a brown, a dark colored sports car of some sort.

Let's take you to the scene yesterday about 40 miles to the south of here in Columbus. It is a place not far from Jeffersonville, Ohio. There's a bit outlet mall down that way. Two separate shooting incidents. One, in one of those incidents, a brown Mercedes was hit. One passenger in that one. In another, four women were riding in a white van. Both cars hit by bullet holes.

Steve Martin is the Franklin County deputy sheriff.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

STEVE MARTIN, FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT: Witnesses to the incident describe seeing a white male approximately 30 to 40 years of age associated with a small, dark colored vehicle on the overpass when these incidents occurred.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

FLOCK: Now, no specific tie to the shooting incidents, 21 of them, that you report, Bill. No specific tie, although ballistics evidence has been brought here to Columbus, hand carried here to Columbus. It's here this morning being tested.

We expect a press conference later this afternoon to determine whether, in fact -- to announce whether, in fact, these shootings are tied. It would make a total of 23 if they are -- Bill.

HEMMER: Jeff Flock, thanks, in Columbus this morning.
